Beauty and the Beast is a very famous fairy tale and was originally published in 1740 - it's been made into cartoons and movies too, so I was delighted to be asked to write a version of the story for Young Readers.

It's always difficult shortening a well known story so its fits into a small book as you have to decide what to leave in and what to take out. In the original version, Beauty is given a magic ring that transports her back to her father's house.

It's even more difficult with a story like this one as lots of readers know the Disney version which had lots of things added to it - like talking furniture and a tea pot.
